The petition Objectives

The Petition’s Language:

1. Designate RTW-002 as Non-Alterable Critical Infrastructure

The landslide retaining wall at 49th Ave SW is a City of Seattle asset owned and managed by SDOT. We demand the City formally designate Asset RTW-002 as Non-Alterable Critical Infrastructure, recognizing the catastrophic landslide and access risks that any alteration would create.

2. Impose an Immediate Permit Pause

All pending permit applications that touch, alter, or impact Asset RTW-002 must be immediately suspended — including active SPU permit SUUMP0001386 and Master Use Permit Project #3040607-LU. No destabilizing development should advance one step further while this neighborhood's safety hangs in the balance.

3. Unite This Land With Endolyne Park — Permanently

The City should investigate the acquisition of Seattle Parcel 2346800485 and formally incorporate it into adjacent Endolyne Park. This is not just an environmental opportunity — it is a safety imperative. 49th Ave SW serves Precincts 34-2501 and 34-1533 as the sole point of access for hundreds of residents. It is a single point of failure the City cannot afford to gamble with.

I agree that this is an environmentally sensitive area and is prone to landslides and erosion. A review of the lidar maps of the area show significant evidence of both in the immediate area....As a Structural Engineer with a background in Geotechnical Engineering, I would have a very hard time accepting the AGES Engineering report as a basis for design

The engineers apply the code. Literally there is no box to check that says “will people hundreds of people get trapped if this goes pear shaped?” It’s just not in the law, I looked.
